He got away with it!
While a trouble-making 26-year-old heroin dealer in Westchester had the book thrown at him this past week, a rich doctor who hooked dozens of Rocklanders on dope got off – for all intents and purposes – scot free.
“Dr. Feel Good” David Brizer, 60, was sentenced to probation Monday in Rockland County Court for selling prescription opiates to street dealers in exchange for cash.
Brizer received five years probation, 200 hours of community service and a $5,000 fine in the plea deal. Brizer pled guilty to writing prescriptionsfor oxycodone to fictional patients for $300 between May 2011 and August 2012.
Brizer is no stranger to the harms of opiate abuse, as he had been employed as a psychiatrist in the drug-treatment program at Nyack Hospital until 2007. Despite acting with no remorse, prosecutors caved and gave Brizer a slap on the wrist.
On top of his dope dealing, Brizer also failed to report $490,000 in “illegal earnings” to the IRS and was found to be in possession of the illegal stimulant methylphenidate.
He made sales at his office in Nyack on Burd Street and in Manhattan.
