Stony Point police checking on the welfare of a particular person found the individual and four others in a hotel allegedly surrounded by hard drugs and paraphenalia on July 12.
Police received the request from a family member and responded by checking the Stony Point Motel, where they found Shannon Moore, 21 of Stony Point, Antonio Burch-Pena, 26 of Garnerville, Raymond DeForest, 24 of Spring Valley and Amy Pietronuto, 20 of Spring Valley. It was Moore’s family who was inquiring into her well-being.
Police also discovered the room to be littered with syringes, glassine envelopes and other drug paraphenalia. All of the suspects were subsequently arrested on charges of 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
In addition, Burch-Pena was charged with two additional counts of 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for having a deck of heroin and prescription painkillers, the latter of which he had without a prescription. DeForest was also found to have had an active bench warrant out in Spring Valley for disorderly conduct.
The arrest is Moore’s second in two weeks. On July 3, an unanswered bench warrant caught up to Moore and she was charged with second degree menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and second degree harassment. In that case, she allegedly attacked a family member with scissors.
Moore, Burch-Pena and Pietronuto were released on an appearance returnable on August 19, while DeForest was transferred to the custody of the Spring Valley Police Department. Stony Point PD acknowledged the motel has been a hot spot for drug activity and hope the owners will redouble their efforts to keep criminal elements off the premises.
