The Clarkstown Police Department’s Detective Bureau has concluded its investigation into the assault of a 7-year-old girl and the death of her mother which occurred on February 28 at 6 Quarry Dr, New City.
The investigation concludes that Victoria Vovchik acted on her own and is solely responsible for stabbing her 7-year-old daughter numerous times and then successfully committing suicide.
The investigators concluded that a follow-up interview of the victim would produce no additional evidentiary information. Therefore, in consultation with her health care providers, the victim was not interviewed as it would cause unnecessary additional trauma.
A CPD press release stated, “On behalf of Chief Sullivan and the Clarkstown Police Department, we extend our deepest sympathies to the victim, her family, friends, and all that were affected by this tragic incident.”
