Blauvelt man charged with aggravated DWI after crash

ORANGEBURG – A 52-year-old Blauvelt man was charged with drunken driving after he crashed into a utility pole on Saturday in Orangeburg, acccording to Orangetown Police.

Police said Kenneth K. Bachert was highly intoxicated, leading to a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Bachert, police said, crashed a 2009 Acura MDX on northbound South Greenbush Road, hitting a utility pole and disabling the car. In an investigation of the accident, police said Bachert failed field sobriety tests and later failed a chemical breath test at Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg.

Bachert was later released to a family member and faces a hearing on Feb. 16 in Orangetown Town Court in Orangeburg.
